The
story behind the story:
During the summer
solstice '08 Marianne Sämann-Wyss had a
vision: thousands of people gathering in public
places to drum. Not to protest, get, learn or
let go of anything... simply to express gratitude
for the only home we have in this body... Gaia.
The first gratitude drumming circle was already amazing and the gifts
we received in return were manifold... everyone could feel the power,
the joy, the connection and most of all the mutual feeling of gratitude
that left no room for anything else but gratitude. Bystanders and tourists
joined the about 80 participants, using their hands and feet to connect
to the heartbeat of the drum... fully in the moment and entirely enjoying
themselves. People shared songs and stories and the two hours were over
in no time. We closed the circle with a big howl and nobody wanted to
leave... we just wanted to continue to drum, to celebrate, to stay in
the energy and never let it go. It was a full success for the earth,
the place, the people who joined hearts and of course the spirits who
called this into being.
Well, a power, an energy like this can not be constrained and people
offered their support to keep it going and to turn it into a worldwide
event. We started out by finding a name that represents our intention
and GROW: Gratitude and Respect for Our World, was
born.
Very quickly it evolved into World Gratitude Drummers... a name that
is inclusive of all citizens of the world, no matter what age, race,
gender, belief or status.
Will you join us?
Hopefully in a public place in your area, but wherever you are works...
alone or with a circle of friends or family. Gratitude is a powerful
feeling that changes the world and what better way than to do it together
with many others in many different places.

the rooftops...
